The Jizera Mountains are the northernmost mountain range in the Czech Republic. Their eastern part extends into Poland and connects naturally to the Krkonoše Mountains. The Jizera Mountains attract visitors all year round – hikers, cyclists, and families who come here for relaxation, discovery, or fun. In winter, most visitors arrive to enjoy skiing in the resorts Tanvaldský Špičák, Bedřichov, and Severák, which are located close to each other between Liberec and Tanvald.

Štěpánka Lookout Tower

The Neo-Gothic Štěpánka Tower is the oldest lookout tower in the Jizera Mountains, built on the Hvězda Hill. Construction began in 1847, initiated by Prince Camille Rohan. That same year, the Imperial Krkonoše Road was being built in the valleys below under the patronage of Archduke Stephan – after whom the tower was named.
